How to Turn a Boring Photo into an Awesome Image with

Ive always been bothered by the amount of time I spend editing photos in photoshop. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the editing process, but what gets to me is when I have more pressing commitments like homework or friends. It's like all I think about is jumping from the chair to get my face away from the computer screen. Then at the end of the edit I am not even satisfied with how the photo turns out!

What about Instagrams tools?

Ive seen a few good color changes with them that looked cool and elegant. Unfortunatley most photos don't see any improvement, so its basically pointless.

Enter Vaniti Co

Since I'm no designer and I've haven't had time recently I really began to slack on editing. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I'm scrolling through Facebook and a sponsored ad (don't we all love those) comes up. It was this company called Vaniti Co. It had a post-processed photo promising less editing time that caught my interest so I clicked on it. I checked out their website, put my credit card in, and tried their filters out. Below is the filter pack they sent me:

I loved them! I didn't have high expectations, because I really never have played with presets but I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. For me it was TOTALLY worth it. I've never battled with spending too much editing time since. And their presets are mine to keep forever and use however I need.

Note: I have absolutely no affiliation with Vaniti Co. I’ve never talked to them and the only communication I’ve ever had with them is when they gladly accepted my credit card. So if you’re wondering if they’re backing up truckloads of money in to my front door to write this, the answer is a definite no (but it would be nice!) 😉

What's really impressive is that they give you 32 different filters in one pack. This means that I can test out so many different variations of editing all with just a few clicks.

Is this cheating?

I was talking to a friend of mine and they asked if it was cheating. After all, it’s not really my preset. I told them I thought of it more of an assistant of sorts. A different viewpoint on my photo possibilities. So… no… I don’t think it’s cheating. I do want a little variation on my editing style, and I think it gives me a good balance between my mediocre editing and a quick fix for my images.

But are these presets really important?

In this day and age, I personally do think so. Most of you reading this blog probably are a super busy human being. If you need those extra hours in your day then this is the fix to your photography headaches. I can tell you that my editing style definitely improved after seeing the effects and learning how they changed the tones/highlights/contrast of each portrait. The Vaniti Co sales video actually shows off their Masterpiece collection pretty well if you want to take a look:

Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool to share. Here’s the link to the website if you’re interested. The experience was pretty good. I paid them on May 31st and got the filter packs in the email right away. For the small amount of money it cost ($39.99 originally 79.99), when I consider that I’ve probably saved hours of my time, I think it was worth it.
