Anastasiya Golubeva: Dolce Veleno

CALEB SCHAFTLEIN,

Could you please provide us with a professional introduction about yourself and your photography work?

Full name

I have been doing photography since I was 13, my parents saw talent in me and presented me a camera, so I was delighted! Then they sent me to a photography school and there I got my first diploma as a professional photographer. Now I am constantly studying numerous trainings and master classes, trying to follow new trends.

Over the years, I shot a video in the “Russian Girl” style, it became popular on Tik Tok and Instagram, received about 2 million views. I publish in various foreign magazines and collaborate with bloggers.

Can you tell us the story behind creating the photographs you submitted?

The story behind these photos: a new VIP restaurant was opened in our city, so I was very inspired by their interior and wanted to have a photo shoot there! I made an agreement with this restaurant and we started choosing an image. I wanted something luxurious and elegant, to reveal the beauty of the model and at the same time show the chic interior of the restaurant. I believe we did a great job!

Can you tell us about how you got started in photography?

If not my parents, my path in photography would probably have started much later. I’m so thankful to them for believe and support they gave me. Although there wasn't much money at that time, they did everything possible to keep that spark inside me alive. Initially, I photographed nature, insects, a little later I began photographing relatives and friends, learned Photoshop. It became a part of my life, now I can't imagine my life without photography.

What was your passion driving you during your journey? Who or what prompted you to begin?

Of course, my parents and relatives, who supported everything, even the worst photos, they said that this was wow! Friends also supported me, but still the biggest motivation was from my family.

Could you walk us through your photoshoot planning process?

The process of planning a photo shoot: I have my own team, this makes the process much easier. First, the client and I decide on the style of the photo shoot and how many people will be in it. I make a mood board. Then we choose a studio or a place in the city/outdoors. We choose clothes for the photo shoot and how many looks there will be. If necessary, I always go with the client for renting clothes and together we select suitable one and accessories. The last but not the least, of course, makeup and hair! Just in case, I always have extra clothes, accessories and cosmetics with me.

As a photography expert, what sets your work apart from other photographers?

In our city of Vladivostok, there are few people who love creativity and something unusual, I think this is what makes me stand out from others. Also, I am very picky about the quality of retouching and color purity, I really do not like bad processing, perhaps this also makes me stand out. For me, the quality of the photo is one of the most important criteria.

Where do you get your ideas for photoshoots?

It's always different, there's no one place or website where I get inspired. Sometimes I just walk down the street and an idea pops into my head by itself, sometimes I see a beautiful thing, for example, a chandelier, and my brain starts generating a picture itself.

Can you tell us about the most memorable moment you've had as a photographer and what experience you gained from that?

The most memorable moment is when I moved to China to study at university (2018), at that moment I decided that my photos were terrible and I shouldn't do it, I didn't pick up a camera for half a year, I lost some skills. There were people who told me directly that I shouldn't get into photography and in general, I would never have clients. At the same time, I was very sad that I was losing my skills and myself as a creator. But now I understand that no matter how hard it is, I will not give up and will never leave it. I can't live without a camera. And don't listen to envious people, listen only to yourself and your heart!

What are the most important components of an extraordinary photograph, in your opinion?

This may seem trivial, but creativity and your own, personal idea, not stolen from somewhere. And excellent picture quality.

Where can we view more of your work and connect with you?
